Opening the Door Project

We are excited to begin our 4th grade family history project called “Opening the Door.” This project is just that, an opportunity for conversations to be started between students and members of their families that open the door of history, heritage and family storytelling.

Your child’s research on this topic will support their learning. In the next few months, we will study “Immigration” as most families in the United States came from somewhere else. This project allows your child to begin to see their story as a larger part of history.

You can assist your child by helping them contact relatives to ask questions. Your child can call, write, email or meet their relatives. Eventually your child will write up their findings, but you can capture the information anyway you like.

This project coincides with the upcoming holidays, when families often get together to enjoy each other’s company and to share what makes them special. This is a great time to do some family research! One person may have a lot of information and/or stories. You child can work on more than one assignment at a time, as some parts may overlap.

To help students structure their time management, due dates will be given for each task. Please look for these due dates on the December and January Homework Calendars. Students will hand in their folders once a week for check-ins.

If you or your child have any questions, please ask.
In advance, we thank you for your support!

November Math Games

For the month of November, students should be playing Multiplication BINGO and Multiplication Squares for homework. These games target multiplication fact fluency. Students can continue to play last month's games as well.
