Questions About The Washington, D.C. Project

Students received a directions sheet for the Washington, D.C. project which was reviewed in class. They have also seen examples of past student work to help them think about their project. Below you will find the project broken down into question format to help review the key points! Have fun!

When is the project due?
Thursday, March 2, 2016.

How should I break down the project so I’m not rushed?
Just like with DYOH, plan everything out!
  1. What are you making?
  2. What materials do you need?
  3. How much time will you set
          aside to complete your project?

What if I’m going away for vacation?
We have scheduled the Washington, D.C. project for homework instead of DYOH, so you should use you nightly homework time to collect materials and design your project, just like you would a DYOH assignment! You do not need to work on it over vacation, but may want to if you have the time.

What materials can I use?
Any materials you have available! Students have used construction paper, cardboard, paper towel rolls, model magic, clay, markers, tissue paper, and popsicle sticks in the past, as examples. Be creative! You can use whatever materials you have available and that are easy to use. You do not have to go out and buy materials, but you may if you wish.

Do I need to do any writing or research at home?
No. All research will be done in school. You only assignment at home is to make your model.

What size should it be?
It should be no bigger than a foot in all directions. Think about a ruler! It shouldn’t be taller, wider, or longer than a foot, or a ruler.
